The Secret Ingredient to a Happy & Healthy Life

Did you know that the largest organ in your body is your skin? Bigger than your heart, that you put so much pressure on to carry you through life. Your skin keeps you looking’ fly if you treat it right. And while we depend so much on this skin, why is it so hard to love it, no matter the size? Beat ourselves up when we feel out of shape? Why do we put ourselves down and huff when we see ourselves in the mirror?

I like to think of my body as my best friend. She’s there for me. When I ask her to work really hard, she does it. No matter the task, I know she’s just trying to please me. When she gets a little caught up in sweets, treats and couch potato-ing, I have to step in, and haul her sweet little ass into a workout routine she can stick to. An eating plan that she can realistically follow. And then like a phoenix from the ashes, our freshly strengthened and trim body will emerge.

We have to love our body all the time. We have to love it ALL. You might do some damage that you can’t undo. Or hurt your own feelings by neglecting a proper routine. I watch people sometimes, punishing themselves for their need to step out of a routine or after they step on the scale. It’s a cycle: get in shape, get out of shape, beat yourself back into shape. If you just loved yourself, no matter how you looked, imagine how much quicker you’d catch yourself before a downfall, or how much easier it would be to bounce back from one?

You must be happy in the body you have while you work at the body you want. It must be a deep respect and love. It’s the secret ingredient to a happy and healthy life. Because if you don’t love you in all of your amazing ups and downs, then who will?
