Comfort-Zone

Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone

Nothing changes if you are comfortable.  You have heard me say this a bijillion times, but I will continue to repeat it. I know, trust me, I know. It is so hard to let go of familiarity! You used to look at Yoga as boring, but now you incorporate it even after going on a jog! It’s something that you can instantly snap into if you need to just calm yourself. But maybe at one point it seemed really boring. But it took that injury that wouldn’t allow you to strength train, or that unlimited two-week deal to get you to try it out. I always feel it’s the anxiety of trying something new that keeps us from doing it!

I used to judge people who only did pilates. Why weren’t they running? Putting more energy into increasing their cardio-endurance? But then I tried it, it kicked my ass, so obviously I tried it again. Now I incorporate pilates moves into my training because they have so much core-tastic benefits! How about me hating to wear heels? I’m pretty tall, and hate to stand out! But one day, I just said “screw it” and started wearing them more. I’m not saying I wear them a lot now, but once I stopped rebelling against my own height, I actually enjoyed the little ego-snacks I got from people saying “whoa, you are tall!”

Sometimes you just have to step back, ask yourself why you are being so judgmental, and stop it! You may see that there is something you are trying to avoid (my height discomfort), and in order to fully love myself, I have to embrace it! Let myself celebrate it! The same goes for a new workout routine, or a new friend that you are worried about connecting with! Go for it! The only thing you’ll find out is that you are strong enough to challenge yourself. That is confidence. That is power.
